My boyfriend and I had the pleasure of staying three nights here on a recent visit to Old San Juan. We first stayed two nights at the beginning of our trip and decided to stay an extra night at the end of our trip because we loved it so much. There are 8 rooms, each with a mix of contemporary and antique decor, some with high ceilings, exposed wooden beams and old floor tiles. The front desk staff was helpful and the breakfast was excellent. Breakfast is served in the dinning room with a high ceiling and exposed wood beams on a 16+ person table. I loved the eclectic mix of zebra stripped chairs, contemporary paintings and the chandelier above. Breakfast included coffee, tea, juice, cereal, yogurt, fruit and three different types of delicious fresh baked bread. Old San Juan is easily navigated by foot but if you need to park a car there is a lot close by run by El Convento that offers a special rate for guests of Villa Herencia. Other perks to Villa Herencia included the roof deck with shade, a sweet smelling courtyard, an avocado tree, luxurious beds and hearty AC systems in each room.. read less

A week after getting home, I am still thinking about how beautiful it is and how kind the staff were to my mother. She has been taking Spanish classes in retirement and had so much fun testing her communication skills with the hotel employees -- especially the housekeeping staff. Staying here made our trip to Old San Juan very special. As mentioned in another review, if a large room size, strong water pressure, fast elevator, and luxury are important to you, then a chain hotel is probably a better fit. If you're less picky about that stuff, and you want a bit of magic, then the CasaBlanca Hotel is perfect. read less

The hotel is aslo in a great location within walking distance to all the Old San Juan attractions. Most important though was how hopsitable and helpful the staff were. Cynthia gave me so many wonderful restuarant reccomendations and directions and helped me and a couple at the hotel find a tour guide to El Yunque when our original guide canceled in the morning. As a solo traveler unfamiliar to Puerto Rico this was beyond helpful. They will also hold your luggage while you go explore. I would absolutely stay here again anytime I revisit Old San Juan. I’ve been unable to reach any office person during the day and I landed at 4 AM but I decided to swing by anyway and see. The night desk manager, Michael, was super helpful, kind and stored or two bags for us. He also directed us to the best breakfast joint in old San Juan. I’m hoping the restless day will be as delightful as Michael was. read less

The customer service when booking the reservation and then adding additional days, asking for an early check in was completed with no problems at all. Very friendly emails and customer service. Upon arrival we loved the look of the hotel! We spent 4 wonderful nights there and are looking forward to going back next year. We had the superior suite which included a king size bed and an adjoining room with twin beds -perfect for traveling with family. The balcony was an added delight. I am a diabetic and as there was no fridge in the room they kept my insulin in a fridge and I was able to obtain it every morning. Such service and always with a smile. The cleanliness and elevator were added bonuses. This hotel should be rated much much higher that it is! Thank you for making our stay so memorable! read less

CasaBlanca Hotel is right in the center of shops, restaurants and historic sites. It is easy walking distance from the forts and a beautiful walk around the sea walls. The rooms were adorable and quaint. There wasn't a lot of storage (no closet, just a rack with three hangers, etc.) But, who comes to Old San Juan for storage? Our room had a cute balcony (shared with the neighboring room) overlooking the cobblestone street. The restaurant was only open for breakfast, but the food smelled good (we aren't breakfast people, so we didn't try it.) Truly, the very best thing about the hotel was the staff. Miguel and Jorge were SO friendly and helped us make plans and navigate the city. At one point we got lost looking for a gas station - so we were low on gas, stuck in traffic and my phone for some reason wouldn't connect to the internet in a foreign country.......so I called the front desk and shared my panic attack with Miguel. I couldn't even see the street names, but I described the buildings around me and he figured out where we were and talked us to a gas station and set us on the path back to the hotel. He will always be a hero to us. We loved our stay there and give it our highest recommendation. read less

I'm used to getting a lackluster room when I book last-minute through a third-party site, but even though I did that, I got an end room with windows on three sides and killer views. I'm a natural light fanatic, and this old building seems to have lots of windows (or at least translucent light shafts) wherever possible. (Speaking of light, the light fixtures in room are soft light, not garish florescents; though the room was a tad dark -- could have used another lamp.)
The decor is really well done. The Casablanca movie theme had the potential to be heavy-handed and gimmicky, but it doesn't feel that way -- rooms and common areas are done up in a stylish, vaguely Moroccan way (fans of the movie will appreciate the themed touches; those who don't care won't be annoyed by them). Our room had great built-in features (like a wooden desk with a view of the fort), wooden shutters, etc. and nice furnishings, bedding, etc.
Roof deck is sweet! Also, the higher-floor (3rd-5th?) rooms at the ends (like room numbers A and G) should have best views of the fort, as well as street (A) and port (G).
Staff was very friendly.
Everything in Old San Juan is very walkable, so the location is fine.
I really feel like we got a great value. read less

Thankfully, with the help of my in-laws, we were able to get a reservation at this adorable boutique hotel. From the moment we entered and waited to check-in at the desk, my husband and I fell in love with this business. The art is funky and eclectic while instilling a "get to know your fellow travelers in the lobby" kind of vibe. The front desk staff we interacted with were both helpful and charming. Due to the impending storm during our stay, most of the local businesses were boarded up and closed our first day there. We were able to find a few restaurants that were open, all of which were slammed with a constant flow of customers but unfortunately were not able to find a supermarket open by afternoon. The man at the front desk was quick to run around (in the rain) to find out which bodegas were still open. We were not expecting this service but were extremely pleased and he was able to point out exactly where they were on the map available at the front desk. The tubs on the roof were lovely, albeit a bit cold after being rained on all day. All in all, we loved their hospitality and have already discussed returning to Old San Juan and staying here on future Caribbean trips. read less

My husband contacted them about our daughter's purse 3 days after leaving it at the hotel and they saved it for us for a week AND let us hang out at the hotel today while waiting on our flight.
Super friendly and the rooms (and building) are cool! The sunrise from the 6th floor rooftop is amazing! read less
